The weather here has been very fall-ish. Cool and pleasant but with a few pretty warm days mixed in now and then. You can almost smell the leaves beginning to turn, although you can’t see it yet, and the winter weather will soon be upon us.
Shear, I’ve just been thinking about you so much. You’re had such a rough year. Why do bad things happen to good people? Isn’t that a loaded question? Give yourself some time and know we’re all here waiting with you and sending you hugs and love.
Junkmel, I’d have done took care of those damn dogs myself by now. KUDOS to you and Hubby for having not made those little biting bastards disappear already and for not going over there and taking it all out of the owners hide. Believe me, I’m doing it for you from here. HD is sure he should come down there. I haven’t quite decided if it’s for his benefit or for YS?
Work is actually picking up. Our assembly area is back to 40 hours this week. Haven’t seen that since the end of January or so. That’s some good news. The bad new is that our plant manager, who is amazing, is leaving. Of course. The good ones always do. The rotten eggs stay forever. Monday we’re getting an acting PM. We’ll see how long he hangs around.
We are rolling our payroll system over from Oracle to PeopleSoft. I’ve used PS before, back in the day when I worked for ConAgra. It’s a good system, just different. So we’ve been testing our brains out over this. Our go-live date is September 23rd. We have to all be certified before then although I don’t know what the drop dead date for that is. We have to score 70 or above on this testing to move on, but you have to score 90 or over to pass the certification. Thankfully, there’s a desk reference that goes with it and basically takes you through ever single solitary step, go here, click there, tab, scroll down, save. It will take some using to remember how and where everything is and how you find it to update it. But, it’ll be good once we get there. Today, I tested for about 4 hours, maybe not quite that much and the papers I printed out were a total of about 1″ thick. Oh joy, just killed me another tree…
OS’s Hubby turned me onto a fantastic sheet rock finisher!!!! He’s my new BFF!! He has been here about 3 times since Sunday and will come tomorrow to finish the ceilings and he’ll be done! And all for $175. Can you believe that? Can you say PAINT! I’m excited to get the painting going and the new carpet in. It’s been so long since I’ve seen my sewing machines.. I’m having withdrawls.
YS and her daughter are adjusting to live without her ex. YS is fine other than drownding in all the estate red tape. Daughter has some rough days. But, when she talks about him it’s very matter of fact and she seems to be keeping it a rather solid playing field thus far. YS said she’s had some sad nights but she’s sure doing well from what I can see. Daughter is back in daycare and school and is getting on with being a kid. YS is back to work and getting on with getting her life back. It’s still weird not to see him around somewhere. For the longest time I’ve been sure that I’ll run into him somewhere. He’ll surface somewhere. But.. so it goes.
The dogs are all doing well. Sam is making a good recovery. The heat exhaustion has slowed him down some but he’s doing better then he was when it happened. He’s good for kisses and treats. What more does a dog need, right?
Tess and Vinny are ruling the roost with a vengance and Sadie is sweet but deaf. Deafer by the day really. If you talk to her but don’t look at her, she has no idea you’re talking to her. It’s funny sometimes, but it’s sad. My old sweet dogs..
I’m back in class and it’s hell. Again. International Business this time. I’m a poor reader when it comes to reading for comprehension. And I’m really struggling. YS is going to try reading the chapter onto a recorder and then see if that helps me by listening to it. At this point, it can’t hurt. It’s so frustrating and it makes me feel so incredibly stupid.
HD is spending the weekend in Ohio so he can unload there on Monday. That’s a bummer.
His time at home is just never enough, no matter how much it is.
Best friend K had her other knee replaced on Monday and got to come home yesterday afternoon. Her DIL is there but I want to take them some dinner anyway. DIL lives in Colorado. So, on that note, I best get going.
Have a good one ladies!

Umm…stepping into the neighborhood of nosey here, but there was no mention of a positive pregnancy test for DIL. Not yet?
